Alistair is the most recent addition to the Infometrics team. Over the course of a 20-year career, his focus has primarily been on international and sustainability economics.
Alistair spent 10 years at the South African National Department of Trade and Industry, in an environment very similar to New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, operating in the fields of trade and investment promotion. This included a three-year diplomatic posting as Trade Commissioner in the South African Consulate General in Mumbai, India.
He then moved to WWF, the Worldwide Fund for Nature, where he was responsible for managing an international programme promoting environmentally responsible foreign direct investment, in emerging and developing economies in Africa, Asia, and South America.
Prior to relocating to New Zealand, Alistair spent several years consulting in the fields of corporate sustainability and extended producer responsibility, including to blue-chip and multinational corporations.
Following his family’s relocation, Alistair was appointed as the Economic Development Advisor at Marlborough District Council, where he advised both Council members and local businesses around issues of industry development, infrastructure and skills development and retention.
Alistair and his family live in Blenheim, the centre of Marlborough’s wine region. He divides his leisure time between mountain biking the South Island’s forests and trails, and diving and spearfishing in the magnificent Marlborough Sounds.
